The Tibidabo Amusement Park celebrated its 125th anniversary this Monday with a festive day that gathered nearly 2,500 people, commemorating a history shared by several generations of Barcelona residents.

The celebration included a grand parade featuring emblematic park characters, such as the Marionetarium puppets, the Mascots, and the "la Moños" automaton. Music, entertainment, and a large birthday cake, created by pastry chef Christian Escribà, completed a special day atop Barcelona.
Second Deputy Mayor Maria Eugènia Gay highlighted the special place Tibidabo holds in the collective memory and its ability to evolve while maintaining its identity and incorporating new offerings.
Third Deputy Mayor Albert Batlle recalled that the Barcelona City Council's acquisition of the park in 2002 ensured its continuity, consolidating it as a space for leisure and fun.
The commemoration coincides with the inauguration of the "Barcelona" letters at the Panoramic Area viewpoint and the opening of Masia Tibidabo, a new Catalan cuisine restaurant led by chef Rafa Zafra, adding new experiences to the visit.
Inaugurated in 1901, Tibidabo is Spain's oldest operating amusement park. Its history is linked to the evolution of Barcelona, with five generations having experienced the park and passed down this family connection.
The project, driven by Dr. Salvador Andreu i Grau, aimed to transform the mountain into an accessible space. The inauguration of the Tibidabo Funicular in 1901 was a pioneering infrastructure.
Since 2002, the park has been managed by the Barcelona City Council through BSM, currently featuring 35 attractions and combining heritage, culture, education, and innovation.
