The University Employment Network, promoted by the Department of Research and Universities through the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia (CIC), will have a presence with its own stand at the Job Fair opening today in Hall 8 of the Montjuïc venue at Fira de Barcelona. This event is an opportunity to showcase the employability services of the twelve Catalan universities to students and recent graduates.
The objective of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia at this fair is to promote entry into the labor market, improve employability, and support career development. The University Employment Network, formed by the orientation and employment services of the 12 universities, will offer personalized advice and organize talks and workshops with the participation of technical staff from the Department.
In addition to individualized attention, information sessions and workshops have been scheduled to enhance professional profiles and increase employment opportunities. These events will provide useful information on available career services and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences.
Throughout the two days of the Fair, the stand will also emphasize the importance of lifelong learning, highlighting projects such as the University Micro-credentials Plan in Catalonia. During the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years, Catalan public universities have offered over 400 training actions to more than 6,000 students.
It collaborates with the Support Service for University Recognition (SARU) of the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion, the University Access Office, and the Agency for the Quality of the University System of Catalonia (AQU Catalunya) to provide information on study validations, university access, and the quality of studies.
The program includes talks on transversal skills, career transitions, opportunities in the EU, university access from vocational training, strategic networking, and international job interviews.
In the last edition, 3,700 advisory sessions were held, and 97 companies offered 700 job opportunities. The University Employment Network stand attended over 300 inquiries, with the presence of advisors from the University of Barcelona (UB), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the University of Lleida (UdL), the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), and the University of Girona (UdG).
