The ERC Federation in Barcelona will hold new elections this Friday to choose its presidency and leadership, in a process that pits the Junquerista and critical candidacies against each other.

These will be the second elections in less than a year for the republican party in the Catalan capital, highlighting strong internal disagreements. With Elisenda Alamany already designated as the mayoral candidate for the Barcelona municipal elections, the two factions are once again testing their strength.
In the endorsement collection phase, the Junquerista list, named Activem Barcelona, has garnered significantly more support, with 347 militants. This candidacy is led by Ricard Farin, president of the ERC center in Horta-Guinardó, and features Núria Clotet, coordinator of the municipal group in the Barcelona City Council, as its number two.
Meanwhile, the critical candidacy, Construïm ERC Barcelona, headed by councilor Rosa Suriñach and with Nil Font as the aspiring general secretary, has collected 160 endorsements.

"We want to overcome the family dynamic to move forward and build a strong and winning project."

The official proclamation of the new leadership of the ERC Federation in Barcelona will take place on Saturday, April 18, during the 76th Barcelona Regional Congress, after approximately one thousand militants cast their votes this Friday.

"A Barcelona Federation that is politically strong, organizationally prepared, and strategically oriented towards the future, with a broad, plural, and inclusive team."

These elections follow an internal crisis late last year, when most of the executive committee in the Catalan capital resigned due to disagreements with the previous president, Creu Camacho, who had won the 2025 spring elections with the Dignitat Republicana list, critical of Junquerismo.
