FC Barcelona, backed by the Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia, has officially announced its intention to bid to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The Catalan club has formalized its desire to host the prestigious event, ensuring the necessary institutional support from the local and regional governments to advance the project.
The process is currently in a preliminary analysis and evaluation phase by UEFA. The involved parties have already submitted the initial documentation required for the European body to study and validate the stadium as a potential venue for the final.
In addition to the Catalan support, the bid is also endorsed by the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF), which would act as the host and co-organizer of the major sporting event.
According to the established timeline, the definitive formalization of the candidacy and the submission of the complete dossier are scheduled for early June 2026. If successful, this would mark the return of a major European final to the city of Barcelona after more than two decades.
