The Global Sumud Flotilla has prepared to depart from Barcelona with nearly forty vessels bound for Gaza, aiming to deliver humanitarian aid and professionals for the region's reconstruction.

This Sunday, approximately forty vessels of the Global Sumud Flotilla are scheduled to depart from Barcelona's Moll de la Fusta en route to Gaza. The mission, with ships already docked since Saturday, expects to double the participation of the previous expedition, involving around a thousand people, with about 300 departing from the Catalan capital.

"What has not changed compared to the previous mission is that Israel continues to commit genocide and colonization against Palestine."

Saif Abukeshek · Global Sumud Flotilla Coordinator
The initiative's coordinator, Saif Abukeshek, emphasized the importance of this action, lamenting that despite a "ceasefire," the Israeli army has killed over 730 Palestinians and continues its territorial expansion. Unlike the previous expedition, the preparation of the ships has been underway since November, a longer process than the single month dedicated on the prior occasion.
The flotilla will not only transport school, medical, and humanitarian supplies but will also include doctors, eco-builders, and teachers. These professionals will travel with the intention of actively participating in a reconstruction process in Gaza, led by the Palestinians themselves.

"These missions at sea are carried out because politicians are not doing their job."

Saif Abukeshek · Global Sumud Flotilla Coordinator
Abukeshek expressed his motivation to organize this mission, despite the risks involved in the journey due to the conflict in the Middle East. He called for the flotilla to be complemented by more street mobilizations and insisted on the need to impose more sanctions on Israel, viewing the struggle as a "marathon" without immediate results.
Among the 300 participants departing from Moll de la Fusta, about forty are part of the Catalan delegation, with representatives from the Intersindical Alternativa de Catalunya (IAC), CGT, Arran, and Contracorrent. Notable attendees include former mayor of Montcada i Reixac, Laura Campos (Comuns), and trade unionists Ariadna Masmitjà 'Masmi' and Jordi Gassiot.
Throughout the weekend, Moll de la Fusta is hosting various activities such as round tables, an entities fair, intergenerational play areas, circus acts, and music featuring nearly twenty artists. On Sunday, before the scheduled departure at 12 noon, there will be performances by the Castellers de Barcelona and Ketubara Batucada, among other musical acts.
