The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) has concluded the MENA Migrant Health project, which developed a digital tool to improve the collection and use of data on the health of migrant populations in the Middle East and North Africa.

The initiative, coordinated by ISGlobal with support from the ”la Caixa” Foundation, has created the Migrant Health Country Profile Tool (MHCP-t). This digital tool assesses available health data, political and legal frameworks, and migrant access to health services, covering areas from infectious diseases to mental health.
The tool was adapted and tested in Morocco and Tunisia, involving social organizations and migrant communities to identify barriers such as linguistic difficulties, administrative procedures, service costs, and lack of information.
Although the conflict in Sudan prevented full implementation in all initially planned countries, the adaptation of the tool to other regions like Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka is being studied.
The project also promoted doctoral training, with four theses completed and two more underway, strengthening global health research capacities and international academic collaboration.
