Former Minister of Economy Jaume Giró publicly urged Junts to vote in favor of the IRPF transfer agreement in the Spanish Congress, arguing it represents a necessary improvement for Catalonia.

Giró, who remains a member of Junts despite having left the parliamentary group last September, stated that the singular financing model agreed upon by ERC, PSC, and the Spanish Government is “an improvement over the current situation.”
The agreement, which includes the transfer of the IRPF (Personal Income Tax), is set to be voted on in the Congress of Deputies soon, where the votes of Carles Puigdemont's party are crucial for its approval. Giró emphasized that the new model respects the principle of ordinality and allows the Generalitat to manage more taxes.

"Whoever is not in favor of this improvement will not find it easy to explain to the citizens. (...) Catalonia has always advanced step by step, never all or nothing."

The former minister criticized Puigdemont for prioritizing issues such as amnesty, immigration powers, or the official status of Catalan in Europe, which he believes are not the main demands of the public. He also called on Junts to reach agreements with Salvador Illa's PSC, a party that is “occupying spaces” left vacant by Junts.
Regarding internal party matters, Giró ruled out running in the primaries for the mayoral candidacy in Barcelona, acknowledging that he had previously “sinned of naivety” regarding his political ambitions.
