The Barcelona Botanical Garden hosted last Sunday the first edition of Arrela’t al Botànic, an open day that attracted over 2,000 people with a program combining nature, education, games, art, and citizen participation.

The initiative, aiming to become a regular event in the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona's calendar, offered activities for all ages from early morning. Children enjoyed the autonomous games installation Arrels, by the company Toc de Fusta, spread across various garden areas, inviting a symbolic journey through different world cultures.
Around midday, families followed the stories of Tutilimundi, an itinerant show by Ramon Roma, who transformed charming garden corners into stages for tales, music, and imagination with his wheeled theatre.
One of the most popular activities was the popular planting session organized by the garden's botanical technicians, where dozens of children helped plant seasonal species like Chinese carnations, pansies, and boxwood, contributing to the space's biodiversity.
Throughout the morning, activities such as the Naturalist's Backpack and a clue-based game invited visitors to explore the garden's flora and fauna. The Jugatecambiental, promoted by the Association of Friends of the Botanical Garden and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), featured creative activities related to recycling.
Visitors also took advantage of the guided tours led by the Association of Friends of the Botanical Garden, which delved into the history and uniqueness of this green space in the city.
The day concluded in the evening with Interluni, a recital of musical poetry by Lia Sampai and Coloma Bertran, which brought the verses of Miquel Martí i Pol to the Garden, marking the end of a celebration filled with nature, culture, and emotion.
The success in participation and positive reception solidify this first edition of Arrela’t al Botànic as a new meeting point between the Museum and the citizens, with an eye towards future editions.
