The tribute took place on Wednesday at 12:30 PM in the Catalan capital, just two days after another minute of silence was held for the railway accident in Adamuz (Córdoba). The act was led by the Government Delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto; the Minister of the Presidency of the Generalitat, Albert Dalmau (acting President); and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni.
Also in attendance were ministers of the Govern, municipal councilors, and representatives from all parties in the Barcelona City Council, joined by members of the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Guardia Civil, and the National Police, in memory of the victims.
These types of events reaffirm institutional solidarity in the face of tragedies that directly affect citizens and public servants.
The R4 Rodalies railway accident occurred on Tuesday night between Gelida and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Barcelona) following a derailment caused by the collapse of a retaining wall due to the storm. The fatality was a trainee train driver, and five other people were seriously injured.
The other victim remembered was the man found in Palau-sator (Baix Empordà, Girona), whose body was located inside a vehicle swept away by water due to the same storm that severely affected the province of Girona. Separately, at Sants station, Adif workers held five minutes of silence for the victims of Gelida and Adamuz.
