The 25.3% of the population in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) was a victim of at least one crime throughout 2024, according to the Barcelona Metropolitan Area Victimization Survey (EVAMB 2025). This figure increases to 32.7% when cybercrime is included, highlighting the growing weight of digital fraud in daily security.
Robberies without violence remain the most common incidents, affecting 18.3% of respondents. Digital victimization, mainly due to online shopping scams and bank fraud, reaches 13.7%. Crimes linked to vehicles (7.4%) and homes (3.3%) are less frequent.
The majority of the metropolitan population reports being little or not at all worried about suffering a crime, both physical and digital (53% in both cases).
The Vallès-Collserola area, which includes municipalities such as Cerdanyola, stands out for having the best perception of security in the entire metropolis, with an average score of 7.06 out of 10 for the neighborhood and 6.96 for the city. This area also shows greater stability in perception compared to areas like Barcelona or the Besòs area.
Regarding the valuation of police services, the Mossos d’Esquadra obtain an average of 7.13 points, while local police forces score 6.73. The best scores for local forces are recorded in the Llobregat and Vallès-Collserola areas.
