The People's Party, through spokesperson Marta Giménez, presented a resolution proposal this Wednesday to the plenary session to improve the efficiency of abandoned vehicle management.

The initiative, presented at a press conference in the Sant Llorenç neighborhood, arises in response to a “recurring complaint” from residents. According to the spokesperson, the problem is not a lack of regulation —the 1991 ordinance already allows removal after 15 days— but rather the “lack of agility and efficiency in management.”

"It is a recurring complaint from residents in many neighborhoods, which directly impacts the quality of life, public space, and the environment."

Councilwoman Marta Giménez stressed that the slow processes mean clearly unusable vehicles remain for weeks or months, occupying parking spaces and generating a sense of neglect. She recalled that the national regulation of 2021 already considers these vehicles waste requiring proper environmental treatment.
The resolution seeks to be constructive and proposes several key measures. These include updating municipal protocols, increasing the frequency of inspections, and creating digital tools to facilitate the reporting of incidents by citizens.
The PP also calls for improved coordination between the Municipal Police, the municipal deposit, and environmental services. Furthermore, they request an information campaign and the publication of an annual service report with data to evaluate its performance.

"To recover public space, improve the appearance of the streets, reduce environmental risks, and respond to a citizen demand."
