Barcelona's metro service was severely affected on December 16 by water infiltration, interrupting circulation on lines L2 and L3 for several hours, according to TMB.

The green line (L3) was the most affected, reporting issues starting at 3:15 PM. An electrical failure, likely caused by water infiltration at the Liceu station, paralyzed the section between Sants Estació and Passeig de Gràcia, impacting eight stations.
According to Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the service remained interrupted for over five hours. Technicians managed to fully restore circulation around 8:20 PM on Tuesday evening, following a chaotic day due to intense rainfall. More information about the collapse in Barcelona.
The disruption extended to the purple line (L2), which was out of service between Artigues and Badalona Pompeu Fabra due to leaks at the Gorg station. Furthermore, the Trambesòs also suffered intermittent service interruptions starting at 4:00 PM between Gorg and Sant Joan Baptista, later extending to Parc del Besòs.
Adding to these weather-related problems was the temporary interruption of the red line (L1) between La Sagrera and Torras i Bages. In this instance, the cause was medical assistance provided by SEM personnel to a passenger, which required stopping the service for one hour, until 8:40 PM.
