The strong Mistral windstorm will affect Barcelona and especially the area south of the Llobregat River during the morning of Saturday, January 31, forcing the activation of the Ventcat Plan.

The weather forecast announces that the Mistral wind will be the main feature of the first half of the weekend. The most intense gusts are expected between dawn and mid-afternoon on Saturday, with speeds that could exceed 70 km/h by 6 a.m.

Maximum wind gusts are expected towards Baix Llobregat and Penedès, where the winter feeling will be more pronounced due to the windstorm.

This situation has led Civil Protection to activate the Ventcat plan, following warnings issued by the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC). The wind will be felt most strongly south of the Llobregat River, particularly affecting Baix Llobregat and Penedès.
Starting on Saturday evening, the wind will decrease, leading to a calmer and sunnier Sunday. However, the coming week is expected to be changeable, with the passage of a front on Monday that will bring back showers.
