Around 70,000 people marched through the streets of Barcelona this Wednesday, February 11, demanding better working conditions in a day marked by tension outside the Department of Education.

The protest, organized by the USTEC, CCOO, UGT, CGT, and Aspepc unions, saw critical moments when some demonstrators attempted to breach the security perimeter on Via Augusta. The Mossos d'Esquadra police force had to deploy helmets and shields after paint balloons were thrown at the building's entrance.

"It is not enough. We continue."

The meeting between Minister Esther Niubó and union leaders ended unsuccessfully after only twenty minutes. Despite the initial disagreement, both parties have scheduled a new meeting for February 19, where the Government has promised to present a turning point proposal.
Although organizers officially called off the protest to avoid further incidents, hundreds of teachers remained gathered outside the department throughout Wednesday afternoon, continuing their standoff with the administration over labor rights.
