The athletic calendar for Barcelona in 2026 promises to be intense, with over 50 events scheduled throughout the twelve months. The months of May and November traditionally concentrate the most activity. The first major events include the Sant Silvestre del CN Catalunya (January 10), which debuts a new circuit in Park Güell, and the Cursa Moritz Sant Antoni (January 25), which will serve as the Catalonia Championship for the 5 km distance.
Large-scale events are concentrated in March. The Zurich Marató de Barcelona (March 15) is the flagship event, with a route crossing 25 city neighborhoods. The 2025 edition was memorable, featuring both men's and women's records. Just before, on February 15, the Mitja Marató de Barcelona (Half Marathon) will be held, where in 2025, Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo set a new world record with an astonishing time of 56 minutes and 40 seconds.
Other notable races include the highly popular Cursa El Corte Inglés, which gathered over 40,000 participants in 2025 and dedicates its proceeds to solidarity causes, and the Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona (Firefighters' Race), a charismatic event held on November 9. Unique challenges like the Cursa Montjuïc-Tibidabo, known for its significant elevation gain, and the Cursa Antiracista, supported by the Top Manta collective, are also scheduled.
The calendar also features charity runs such as The Bosco Run (February 1) and the Cursa Solidària Navas. However, some races planned for 2025 were canceled or have pending dates for 2026, such as the Cursa Científica Hospital de Sant Pau, the Milla Sagrada Família (postponed due to construction), or the Cursa Mercabarna, which is set to return in 2026 after a year hiatus.
