Three senior researchers from the Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC) have been recognized in the "Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List" for their significant scientific contributions.

The Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC) is pleased to announce that three of its principal researchers are featured in the latest update of the prestigious “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators,” widely known as the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List.
This ranking, led by Prof. John P.A. Ioannidis and published by Elsevier, identifies the top 2% of scientists worldwide based on standardized bibliometric indicators, including citation counts, h-index, co-authorship adjustments, and composite citation scores (c-score).
Joaquim Roca Bosch has been recognized for Career-Long Impact. F. Xavier Gomis-Rüth has been distinguished for both Career-Long Impact and Single-Year Impact (reflecting performance and citations received during 2025). Marc Liesa has been recognized for Single-Year Impact.
IBMB celebrates these bibliometric indicators as a valuable measure of the reach and interest its research generates, while emphasizing that citation impact is only one part of a broader spectrum of scientific achievement, encompassing mentorship, methodological innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and social contribution, in line with modern research assessment principles such as those of DORA.
