The incident began at 10:00 AM when it was detected that a passenger had configured an internet hotspot inside the aircraft with a name containing an explosive threat. This action immediately triggered international air safety procedures.
The aircraft, identified as flight TK1853, was authorized to enter Spanish airspace with the support of a French combat aircraft, confirmed sources from the Ministry of Defense. The landing finally occurred at 11:00 AM, in a secure area away from the terminals.
Security forces are evaluating the situation, but the airport continues to operate with complete normality.
Following the landing, passengers were evacuated and the Crisis Room was activated under the direction of AENA. Personnel from the Guardia Civil, leading the checks, along with the Mossos d'Esquadra, National Police, and Local Police, were deployed to the scene.
The situation led to the activation of the Aerocat plan by Protecció Civil and the deployment of five units of the Firefighters as a precaution. Turkish Airlines assured that the entire process was being carried out in accordance with international safety standards.
