Train user platforms in Catalonia have called for a demonstration in Barcelona on February 7 to protest systematic underinvestment and poor management by Adif and Renfe.

The various train user platforms have joined forces to speak out against what they consider "systematic underinvestment" in railway infrastructure and "poor governance of the system" by operators Adif and Renfe, as well as the respective governments.

"We want a service where they invest, where they do the things they have to do and stop political discussions, and above all, fix the Rodalies network, which is what workers need."

Lluís Carrasco · Representative of the Baix Llobregat Public Transport Users Platform
Lluís Carrasco, representative of the Baix Llobregat Public Transport Users Platform, stressed that the protest is an "act of complaint and an act of demand for things to work now." Users claim that current problems stem from more than 20 years of lack of investment and deficient maintenance.
In addition to underinvestment, the organizers point out that since the accident in Gelida, "disorder, damage, and misinformation" have been the dominant trend. This situation has generated great outrage, especially due to the lack of clarity in the information provided to those affected.
The demonstration is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, at 5:00 p.m. It will start at Estació de França and conclude at Plaça Sant Jaume in Barcelona. The platforms, which already have the support of trade unions, are working to secure the backing of other civil society organizations.
