Vueling airline announced the temporary resumption of the air route between Barcelona and Madrid from February 9 to February 22 to alleviate mobility problems caused by the ongoing railway crisis.

This emergency measure follows recent track maintenance work and the announcement of three days of rail strikes (on February 9, 10, and 11) which have increased train travel times and led to the suspension of late-night services.
During this period, Vueling will offer four daily flights on weekdays (two in each direction) on the former air bridge route. Two daily flights will be available on Saturdays and Sundays. The airline had suspended this connection on March 30 last year due to competition from high-speed rail.

"At Vueling, and with the commitment to facilitate citizen mobility, we have worked to offer an additional alternative that helps cover an existing need during the month of February."

The maximum price for the basic fare will be 99 euros. On weekdays, planes will depart from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport at 7:30 and 19:25, and from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas at 9:25 and 21:20.
