The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 24-year-old man in Barcelona, accused of committing up to eleven acts of exhibitionism and groping women in the metro over the past three years.

The arrest took place last Tuesday, culminating a lengthy investigation by the Mossos' Urban Transport Regional Area. The individual, who has already appeared before a judge, now faces a ban from approaching metro facilities until his trial.
According to police sources, the man followed a defined modus operandi. He would wait in metro station lobbies, near the turnstiles, and discreetly begin to masturbate. When female passengers approached to validate their tickets, he would press against them as if trying to sneak in, taking the opportunity to grope them or expose his genitals. In some instances, he ejaculated.
The first recorded incident was in September 2022. Although he ceased his activity for a period, he resumed the acts in 2024 with six occurrences, two in 2023, and two more this year before his arrest. The last case occurred on March 15.
The investigation was complex, as the accused acted arbitrarily, without a clear pattern of stations or times. Furthermore, he always entered the metro with his face covered by a hood, hindering his identification through security cameras. Finally, in one of his last acts, his face was partially captured, which allowed for his identification and subsequent location. The young man had a prior record for theft and is now accused of several crimes, including sexual assault in some of the cases.
