A 19-year-old woman died this Sunday, March 22nd, in a shantytown settlement in the Sant Andreu de Palomar neighborhood of Barcelona, according to the Mossos d'Esquadra.

The Catalan police are investigating the incident, which was first attended by the Guàrdia Urbana following an emergency call at 3:50 PM. Authorities believe the death is linked to drug use, noting that the young woman was also under medical treatment.
Police sources have ruled out foul play as the body showed no signs of violence. The settlement, located on Gran de Sant Andreu street, consists of about fifteen shacks and was established over a year ago. Local residents report frequent disputes and police interventions in the area.
Recent data from the Barcelona City Council shows that 536 people live in similar settlements across the city, including 97 minors, highlighting a persistent social crisis in the Catalan capital.
