Public administrations have launched the 2026 housing subsidy calendar in Barcelona and Catalonia, providing direct financial aid to help citizens manage high rental costs in the metropolitan area.

The Youth Rent Bonus remains a key program, with 29 million euros allocated for Catalonia. Applicants aged 35 or younger can receive up to 250 euros per month. The application window is expected to open in the first half of March 2026, following a first-come, first-served system.
In Barcelona, the City Council has activated a specific grant of up to 400 euros for single-parent families and individuals over 55 living alone. To qualify, the monthly rent must not exceed 1,100 euros, and the household must spend at least 30% of its income on housing costs.
Additional support is available through the Generalitat de Catalunya for those aged 65 and over, offering up to 200 euros per month. These programs aim to prevent residential exclusion by supporting tenants whose annual income is below 25,200 euros.
