The investment, split between the City Council's 55.5 million euros and the Department of Education and FP's 15.5 million euros, will result in 188 actions across 148 educational centers throughout the year, with 126 currently underway this summer. The goal is to provide modern, comfortable, inclusive, and sustainable facilities adapted to new pedagogical needs.
Second Deputy Mayor Maria Eugènia Gay emphasizes that the investment advances a more equitable and inclusive educational network, prepared for challenges like the climate emergency. Meanwhile, Education Councilor Sara Belbeida highlights the importance of maintaining the good condition of facilities to motivate students and staff.
The plan includes new educational constructions with an investment exceeding 6.5 million euros, such as the works for the Institut Escola Cal Maiol and the new premises for the Institut Vallcarca. The project for the new site of Escola Entença is also planned.
Major improvement and renovation works will be carried out in existing centers, with investments over 500,000 euros for functional and technical transformations, particularly in centers in the Zona Nord that have become institutes escola. Comprehensive upgrades are also included for centers like Institut Escola Sant Felip Neri and Institut Escola Mallorca.
Reform, expansion, and improvement (RAM) actions total nearly 18 million euros, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, facilities, and inclusivity of buildings. 1.6 million euros are allocated to new furniture and equipment for classrooms, aiming to create more inclusive and motivating spaces.
The Pla Clima Escola Barcelona continues with the climate control of 30 new buildings, adding to the 54 already intervened, with an investment of approximately 23 million euros. This plan aims to make centers more efficient and comfortable, employing passive and active low-energy impact measures, including the installation of photovoltaic panels.
Nearly 9 million euros are dedicated to post-compulsory education, with 17 specific actions. These include adapting the Institut Pablo Ruiz Picasso for railway studies, fitting out the new premises of the Institut del Disseny i Arts Gràfiques de Barcelona, and works for the new facility of the Institut de l'Esport de Barcelona.
