The outdoor swimming pools at the new CEM la Sagrera in Barcelona have opened their doors this weekend, providing a new aquatic leisure option for the city.

The new outdoor pools at the Municipal Sports Center (CEM) la Sagrera, located at Carrer de Bonaventura Gispert, 37-47, are now open to the public this weekend. The facility includes a main 25-meter pool and a smaller complementary pool measuring 16 meters. With this opening, Barcelona adds a new venue to its range of outdoor municipal swimming pools.
In addition to the pools, the complex features a sun terrace of over 1,000 m², two paddle tennis courts, three rooms for group activities, a weight training room, and a stationary bike room. The construction adhered to sustainability criteria, incorporating photovoltaic panels, a waste heat recovery system, aerothermal energy for heat recovery, and water self-sufficiency.
Although the pools are now operational, the official inauguration of the entire facility is scheduled for September, when all spaces and services will be fully functional. The installation of a retractable roof and the climate control for both pools to ensure year-round use are still pending. The City Council has invested a total of 14 million euros in this project.
