The new outdoor pool area at CEM La Sagrera, located at Carrer de Bonaventura Gispert, 37-47, in Sant Andreu, opens its doors this Saturday, August 15th, expanding Barcelona's sports offerings.

The city of Barcelona is inaugurating the outdoor pool area of the new CEM La Sagrera Municipal Sports Center, located at Carrer de Bonaventura Gispert, 37-47, in the Sant Andreu district. Public opening will take place this Saturday, August 15th.
The new facilities feature a main outdoor pool measuring 25x16.5 meters and a complementary pool of 16.5x6 meters. During the opening weekend, operating hours will be from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with changing rooms closing at 3:30 PM. From Monday, August 17th, hours will extend from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Sunday, with changing rooms closing at 8:30 PM.
This new space joins the 15 existing outdoor pools in the city, spread across eight districts and open seven days a week. CEM La Sagrera also includes a solarium of over 1,000 square meters, two paddle tennis courts, three rooms for group activities, a weight room, an indoor cycling studio, and social areas.
The building has been constructed following criteria of energy efficiency and sustainability, incorporating systems for residual heat recovery, photovoltaic installations, aerothermal energy, and water self-sufficiency measures, aligned with LEED certification. The neighborhood's green infrastructure is enhanced with integrated facade vegetation and a garden area of nearly 500 square meters featuring native species.
The total investment for this project amounts to approximately 14 million euros. The official inauguration is scheduled for September, when all sports and service areas will be fully operational. A second phase of the project includes the installation of a retractable roof to climate-control the outdoor pools, extending their use throughout the year.
These new facilities complement those of CEM Sant Andreu, located at Carrer de Santa Coloma, 25. With the opening of the new space, both facilities will be managed integrally under the name CEM Sant Andreu-La Sagrera.
The opening of CEM La Sagrera is part of the municipal strategy to expand and modernize the city's sports facility network, which has seen its investment doubled during this term, from 50 to 100 million euros. This effort has driven new facilities such as CEM Espronceda (opened in 2026), the future CEM La Marina (planned for 2027), and new pavilions in La Model, Glòries, Poble-sec, and l'Ona.
