The 9 water play areas planned for this year in Barcelona are now operational. These facilities, progressively installed during June and July, are located in various spots including Carme Simó square, Mistral avenue, Joan Pelegrí square, Justa Freire Gardens, Joan Reventós Park, Harry Walker square, Baix Guinardó Gardens, Antoni Santiburcio Park, and Lolita Torrentó square.
These new areas join those already active from the 2026 summer season, effectively doubling the total number of installations to 18. Existing zones are situated around Canyelles, in Rieres d’Horta Park, in Bon Pastor, at the Canòdrom de Meridiana, in Maresme square, the former Casa de l’Aigua, in Glòries Park, in Sant Joan de Déu Gardens at Illa Diagonal, and in Plaça de les Caramelles.
According to the council, all areas have been designed for responsible water usage, with games activated by a push-button to conserve water. This year, operating hours have been extended from 10 AM to 8 PM without midday interruptions.
The City Council also reminds the public that access or bathing in ornamental fountains, such as the Glòries mirror, is prohibited. Furthermore, the play areas are recommended for children aged five and above, who must wear footwear.
