The public company managing the railway network was forced to reinstate the temporary speed limitation (LTV) this Wednesday, after initially applying it on Tuesday and lifting it the following morning for track inspection. This decision follows reports that some drivers chose to reduce speed on their own initiative after noticing vibrations during circulation, although this was not an official instruction from Adif.
The current restriction affects a 78-kilometer stretch, specifically between kilometer points 100 and 178. Initially, the Tuesday limitation affected 148.1 kilometers between Mejorada del Campo and Alhama de Aragón (Zaragoza) and a tunnel near Ariza (Zaragoza).
The application of temporary speed reductions is somewhat common in the day-to-day operations.
Adif has applied this restriction preventively, especially after drivers reported the presence of some bumps on this section. This measure is taken in the context of last Sunday's accident in Adamuz (Córdoba). Although the limitation is expected to be lifted soon after nightly reviews, travel between Madrid and Barcelona will experience undetermined delays.
