The supermarket chain ALDI will inaugurate its new store in the Montserrat Market, located in the Roquetes neighborhood of Barcelona, on January 28, as part of the facility's ongoing renovation.

The new ALDI supermarket will be located at the intersection of Aiguablava street and Via Favència, covering an area of 1,200 square meters and creating 19 jobs. This opening is notable because it will occur before the complete reopening of the Montserrat Market itself, which is scheduled for March 2026 after the remodeling is finished.

The opening of the new ALDI store represents a step forward in the commercial revitalization of the Montserrat Market, which seeks to adapt to the new needs of the Nou Barris neighborhood.

The Montserrat Market, which dates back to 1960, has suffered a significant reduction in stalls over the decades. While it initially had 80 stalls, after the current reform, the space will be reduced to only 17 shops. This trend reflects the loss of 60% of stalls in Barcelona's markets over the last 20 years.
With this new store, ALDI strengthens its presence in Catalonia, totaling 109 supermarkets. Of these, 77 are located in the province of Barcelona and 26 in the Catalan capital. The chain, which arrived in Spain in 2002, is known for its discount model based primarily on private label products, totaling 490 establishments nationwide.
