This initiative aims to improve citizen support and streamline the processing of cases requiring specific expertise in this field. The service will be provided by the association AMIC-UGT, an organization experienced in migration and the rights of foreign nationals.
The launch of this service was made possible through funding allocated to local projects for combating racism and hate speech, as part of the Programme Contract between the Department of Equality and Feminism and local authorities. This collaboration will allow staff in the Citizenship and Migration area to dedicate more time to tasks such as community work, promoting coexistence, and carrying out public awareness and participation initiatives.
Initially, the service will be available in La Seu d’Urgell every two weeks, with plans to extend it to other municipalities within the Alt Urgell county.
The County Council emphasized that this measure reaffirms its commitment to public policies that promote equal opportunities, social cohesion, and universal access to rights, thereby fostering a more inclusive and welcoming region.
