Badalona has made history by setting a Guinness World Record with the celebration of the world's largest basketball KO tournament. A total of 782 participants took part in the challenge organized by the Badalona City Council and acb, with the collaboration of Endesa, at the Supercopa Endesa Fan Zone, located in Plaça del President Tarradellas. This figure surpasses the previous world record of 711 participants.
From early morning, hundreds of people gathered at the Fan Zone to participate in the competition. The tournament began at 10:30 AM and followed the traditional KO format, where participants, lined up in front of the basket, were progressively eliminated until a single winner emerged.

The Mayor of Badalona, Xavier Garcia Albiol, celebrated the record achievement, highlighting the participants' response. He recalled that Badalona has the most registered youth basketball players in Catalonia, adding that this record demonstrates basketball's integral role in the city's identity. He also noted that this success coincides with Badalona hosting the Supercopa Endesa.
The challenge, open to people of all ages and skill levels, was designed as a large popular festival centered around basketball. Josep Perich emerged as the winner of the tournament and received a double pass for the Copa del Rey in Valencia 2027, including travel and accommodation. Attendees also enjoyed various activities and giveaways.
The Guinness World Record achievement marks the start of a weekend where Badalona becomes the epicenter of Spanish basketball with the Supercopa Endesa being held at the Palau Municipal d'Esports. The competition brings together Asisa Joventut, Kosner Baskonia, Valencia Basket, and Barça, once again positioning the city as the venue for a major event on the Spanish basketball calendar.
