Recent works focused on Montjuïc mountain, where three new reservoirs with a total capacity of 2,400 m³ have been constructed. These new supply points are located at the Montjuïc Castle, the Viver de Tres Pins, and the Joan Brossa gardens.
The investment made in Montjuïc amounts to 10.9 million euros, while the total cost for improvements to the phreatic water network reached 22.8 million euros. These projects will increase the irrigated green areas by 21 hectares, bringing the total to 186 hectares.
With the completion of these tasks, the City Council of Barcelona meets its goal of increasing the annual use of phreatic water for municipal purposes by 150,000 m³. This signifies a 20% enhancement in the network's capacity.
“"This means increasing the network's capacity by 20%, which would be equivalent to gaining a volume like that of 60 Olympic swimming pools."
