The celebration of the Vimbodí i Poblet festival officially commenced this Thursday, August 6th, with an inaugural day focused on recognizing the municipal nursery Les Orenetes, which commemorates its 25 years of existence.
The main square saw a large turnout, with residents, families, and members of the educational community participating in an emotional event. The opening speech reviewed the center's history and its connection with various generations of children and families from the municipality, blending memories and anecdotes in a festive atmosphere.
As part of the commemoration, a photographic exhibition was inaugurated, documenting key moments of the nursery since its inception, showcasing the center's evolution and acknowledging the participation of students, educators, and families.
The significant public participation underscored the affection of the people of Vimbodí i Poblet for an educational center considered essential for the upbringing and support of young children. The inaugural day also included a morning parade with the town's giants and 'capgrossos' (big-heads), followed by a solemn mass in the church honoring the Mystery of the Transfiguration of the Lord.
Following the opening speech and the exhibition, music took center stage in the evening with a concert by the Societat Coral Veu de la Terra, conducted by Núria Pérez with Sergi Esparza on piano, followed by a performance by the Orquestra Montecarlo and the subsequent festival dance.
The festival program will continue until Sunday, offering family shows, cinema, parades, music, 'sardanes' (traditional Catalan dance), 'castells' (human towers), and gastronomic activities, all aiming to make the streets and squares of Vimbodí i Poblet the epicenter of the celebration.
