The Barcelona City Council has granted final approval for the renovation of the Foneria de Canons on La Rambla, which will become the Catalonia Digital Art Center by 2028.

The project, managed by the Government of Catalonia, involves a total investment of 13 million euros. The historic building, dating back to the late 17th century, will be transformed into a 3,400-square-meter cultural hub dedicated to digital creativity and 21st-century art.
Most political groups supported the plan, highlighting its potential to revitalize the lower part of La Rambla. The building previously served as a royal cannon foundry, the headquarters of the Bank of Barcelona, and a military pharmacy before being acquired by the regional government in 2003.
