The project, managed by the Government of Catalonia, involves a total investment of 13 million euros. The historic building, dating back to the late 17th century, will be transformed into a 3,400-square-meter cultural hub dedicated to digital creativity and 21st-century art.
Most political groups supported the plan, highlighting its potential to revitalize the lower part of La Rambla. The building previously served as a royal cannon foundry, the headquarters of the Bank of Barcelona, and a military pharmacy before being acquired by the regional government in 2003.
