The Barcelona City Council has approved the purchase of seven specialized safes for the Guardia Urbana to securely store narcotics seized during police operations across the city.

The Security and Prevention Area has allocated 8,185.15 euros for this tender, which began processing on December 18. The initiative aims to reduce risks associated with handling illegal substances and ensure they are safely kept within police facilities.
These safes will be distributed to stations in les Corts, Gràcia, and Horta-Guinardó, as well as specialized units like the UREP. The design includes a mailbox-style entry system to prevent anyone from retrieving items once they have been deposited inside.
Constructed from high-strength steel with 10 mm thick doors, the safes weigh approximately 80 kg. This technical upgrade is designed to protect officers who frequently encounter drugs during preventive checks and vehicle identifications in Barcelona.
