The city of Barcelona is preparing to welcome the pontiff in June, with an agenda that includes a prayer at the Cathedral, a vigil at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, and the blessing of the Jesus tower at the Sagrada Familia.

With just under a month to go until the pontiff's arrival in Barcelona, his detailed agenda has been made public. On June 9, the religious leader will arrive in the city at noon and head directly to the Barcelona Cathedral for a prayer. In the afternoon, one of the most anticipated mass events is scheduled: an evening prayer vigil at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
The following day, June 10, will be a busy one. The pontiff will first visit the Brians I Penitentiary Center, in Sant Esteve Sesrovires. Afterwards, he will travel to Montserrat, where he will preside over a prayer in the basilica, which will include the singing of the Salve and the Virolai. He will then have lunch with the Benedictine monks. The monastery expects to host over 10,000 people during this visit and will install giant screens to follow the main event.
After his stay in Montserrat, the pontiff will return to Barcelona to visit the parish of Sant Agustí, where he will learn about social projects. One of the most anticipated moments of the visit will be at 7 PM, when he will preside over mass at the Sagrada Familia and bless the Jesus tower. The next day, he will depart for the Canary Islands. The Episcopal Conference has stated that preparations are in their final stages for a highly anticipated visit.
It should be noted that the travel agenda will begin on June 6 in Madrid. In addition to religious events, the pontiff will have institutional meetings, including an audience with King Felipe VI at the Royal Palace and with the prime minister at the apostolic nunciature. The most politically significant event will be the speech the pontiff will deliver at the Congress of Deputies on June 8, one day before his arrival in Barcelona.
