The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, handed over the keys to 35 new social housing units this Friday at the Illa Glòries development, featuring both affordable rent and surface rights models.

These apartments are part of Block D in a major residential project that will eventually provide 238 public housing units. Today's delivery includes 21 units under surface rights and 14 units designated for affordable social rent.

"Barcelona must be a city where everyone can live, and we continue to search for available land to build new public housing."

Monthly rents for these units range from 418 to 724 euros. For those under the surface rights scheme, prices vary between 125,352 and 212,232 euros. This model grants ownership for 75 years, after which the property returns to the city council.
The Barcelona City Council expects to deliver the remaining 92 apartments in the Illa Glòries complex before the end of the year, marking a significant step in the urban renewal of the Glòries district.
