The Barcelona City Council has officially implemented a new civility ordinance this Sunday, significantly increasing fines for anti-social behavior in public spaces across the city.

The updated regulations double the fine for urinating in the street, raising it to 750 euros. In sensitive areas such as near historic monuments or schools, the penalty can escalate to 1,500 euros.
Street drinking, known as 'botellón', will now be penalized with up to 1,500 euros. Furthermore, the organization of 'pub crawls' or organized drinking tours faces the highest possible fine of 3,000 euros.
Dog owners are now legally required to carry water to dilute their pets' urine on public pavements. Failure to do so can result in a 300 euro fine to ensure urban hygiene and protect street furniture.
To prevent non-residents from evading these penalties, Guardia Urbana officers are equipped with card machines for immediate payment. The law was passed with support from PSC, Junts, and ERC.
