Barcelona Mobilizes 15 Million Euros for Childhood Fund 0-16

The city council of the Catalan capital allocates this amount to assist approximately 25,000 minors from 14,000 vulnerable families.

The Barcelona City Council has launched a new call for the Childhood Fund 0-16, with an allocation of 15 million euros, to support families facing difficulties in covering the basic needs of their children and adolescents.

This municipal initiative aims to benefit approximately 25,000 minors from around 14,000 vulnerable families. The measure seeks to alleviate the economic burdens associated with the cost of raising children, as reported by city council sources.

During the previous year, a total of 14,345 families received aid from this fund, reaching 24,292 minors. Of these, approximately 4,400 families were single-parent households, highlighting the importance of this support for various types of homes.
To access the Childhood Fund 0-16, families must be users of Social Services with open assistance during 2025, have dependent minors born after January 1, 2010, be registered in Barcelona as of January 1, 2025 and reside there effectively until at least the end of the application period, and not exceed the established income level.
The benefit provides for the granting of approximately 600 euros per dependent minor, 1,050 euros for two minors, and 1,350 euros for three minors. From the fourth minor onwards, an additional 300 euros per child will be added. Single-parent families will receive a unique supplement of 600 euros. In cases of shared custody, each parent can access a maximum of 50% of the total benefit amount.
