For the fourth consecutive year, Veolia and the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell have joined forces to consolidate the Conde de Godó Trophy as an international benchmark in sustainable management and environmental respect. Various initiatives have been implemented during the tournament to promote sustainability.
Aigües de Barcelona, part of the Veolia Group, installed fifteen tap water fountains at nine locations during the event, supplying over 16,000 liters of water. Additionally, 2,300 reusable bottles were distributed among players, staff, press, and the public, aiming to minimize plastic waste generation.
These actions, carried out during the 2026 edition, prevented the generation of nearly 600 kilograms of waste, equivalent to a reduction of over 6,000 kilograms of CO₂ emissions and more than 90,000 liters of water footprint. It is worth noting that for every 1,000 liters of tap water consumed, 44 kilograms of waste and 453 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions are saved compared to consuming the same volume in bottled water.
The company will continue to lead the calculation of the carbon footprint and water footprint to promote the tournament's sustainability. As a new feature, Aigües de Barcelona had its own space in the Fan Zone, offering an interactive proposal that combines sustainable hydration and sport, raising awareness among attendees about the importance of water and plastic reduction.
The collaboration with the Conde de Godó is part of Veolia's strategy to promote sustainability in major events. Aigües de Barcelona is a leader in sustainable hydration, having installed fountains at 27 events during 2025 (13 sports races and 14 cultural, sports, and congress activities), reaching nearly 600,000 attendees and preventing the generation of plastic waste in cities.
