The city of Barcelona has been named the second best destination in Europe for enjoying live football, according to a UEFA study focusing on fan culture and travel habits.

The research, conducted by OnePoll, surveyed 5,000 fans across Europe's top five leagues. Barcelona leads the Spanish ranking as the best city to visit for a match with 13% of the votes, followed by Madrid at 11%. On a continental scale, only London ranks higher than the Catalan capital as a preferred destination.
Spanish supporters are identified as the most passionate in Europe, with 52% describing themselves as highly dedicated. The data shows they spend 30% of the match singing, and 81% are willing to travel three hours or more to support their team regardless of the weather or the scoreline.
While Madrid takes the top spot for stadium-related gastronomy, Barcelona remains a key player in the sports tourism sector. The study emphasizes that for 66% of fans, the club's history and community atmosphere are more significant than the final result of the game.
