Bonet recalled that the right to protest is fundamental and that, in this case, the competence for its management lies with the Generalitat. She confirmed that both the regional government and the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police) are aware of the event and will conduct necessary assessments if an extraordinary risk is identified.
Acting as interim mayor during Jaume Collboni's absence, Bonet stressed that the messages “racist, xenophobic, and contrary to democracy and coexistence” promoted by the organizing group clash with the values of Barcelona.
“"Diversity is part of Barcelona's DNA. The city has been built by people from all over the world, and therefore, this gives us a much firmer stance."
The deputy mayor emphasized that diversity is a fundamental pillar of Barcelona's identity, built by people from across the globe, which strengthens the city's position against such gatherings.
