The Barcelona City Council has prepared a special security operation for Sant Jordi 2026, deploying 150 access controllers and 256 concrete blocks across the Eixample district.

The local government has allocated over 127,000 euros to reinforce safety within the literary superilla. This budget covers two main contracts: one for auxiliary staff to manage pedestrian flow and another for the installation of New Jersey concrete barriers.
Companies Control Acces Events and Atrium will provide the personnel to regulate traffic and crowds from April 21 to 23. These teams will operate under the Guàrdia Urbana supervision, focusing on Passeig de Gràcia and Rambla de Catalunya to ensure these areas remain vehicle-free.
To prevent vehicle-related risks, 256 concrete barriers will be placed at strategic intersections, including Gran Via and Mallorca streets. Installation will begin on the night of April 22, with removal scheduled for the following night to restore normal traffic by Friday morning.
