Barcelona will be the host city for the Advanced Maritime Technology Expo & Conference (AMT) starting in 2027, an international event previously held in Amsterdam, aiming to boost the blue economy sector.

The city of Barcelona has been chosen as the new host for the Advanced Maritime Technology Expo & Conference (AMT), a leading event in the maritime technology sector. This significant fair, previously held in Amsterdam, will take place at the Montjuïc venue of Fira de Barcelona from 2027 onwards, with the first edition scheduled for June 16-17 of that year.
Organizers highlight the unique combination Barcelona offers: a leading international port, strong institutional support, and a rapidly expanding blue economy cluster. They consider this environment ideal for the event's growth and for fostering investment, research, and industrial development in the sustainable maritime sector.
The intention is for AMT to evolve in Barcelona into a more connected and active year-round platform for the maritime technology community. This decision comes after the city approved a new strategy to boost the blue economy, with a public investment of 150 million euros until 2030, including projects like the BlueTechPort by the Port of Barcelona and the future Maritime Technology Park.
The Deputy Mayor for Economic Promotion and Enterprise, Raquel Gil, recalled that Barcelona also hosts the Unesco Collaborating Centre for the Blue Economy, recognizing its leadership in promoting a sustainable maritime future. The congress's arrival will strengthen the city's position as a key Mediterranean hub for advanced and sustainable maritime technologies, offering opportunities for local businesses and talent.
