The Barcelona City Council has reached an agreement with ERC to invest 15 million euros in 2026 to expand the renovation of apartments suffering from structural issues in the Besòs i el Maresme neighborhood.

The plan aims to increase the number of renovated homes from 204 to 720. These buildings have been identified as having 'aluminosis' (concrete degradation), requiring urgent intervention. Mayor Jaume Collboni's administration is prioritizing these works to ensure resident safety and improve energy efficiency.

"The City Council is prepared to respond, and any community that has started works will not be left hanging."

A critical deadline is set for June 30, 2026, when European Union Next Generation funds must be justified. If the works are not completed by then, the local government has guaranteed it will use its own budget to cover the costs, ensuring the long-term regeneration of the Besòs area continues.
