The Barcelona City Council has agreed to rehouse 14 out of 30 occupants from three municipal buildings in Vallcarca this March, following a six-month mediation by the Ombudsman.

The ombudsman David Bondia secured housing alternatives for three families living in vulnerable conditions on Farigola Street and Vallcarca Avenue. Relocations include the Gòtic and Torre Baró neighborhoods, as well as the Casa Orsola building in the Eixample district.

"It is positive that 28 housing solutions were found for the 28 registered people, although only 14 have accepted."

The agreement has faced criticism from some residents and the Junts party, who argue the process bypasses official housing lists. Meanwhile, those who rejected the offers cite the difficulty of leaving their local community and schools in Vallcarca.
