The Barcelona City Council and the Residents' Federation have signed an institutional relations protocol aimed at enhancing dialogue and coordination channels between the municipal government and neighborhood entities. This agreement acknowledges the historical role of the neighborhood fabric in defending citizens' rights and building a more cohesive Barcelona.
The Deputy Mayor, Maria Eugènia Gay, and federation representatives signed the agreement, which establishes a framework for collaboration to share information, coordinate actions, and promote improvements for the quality of life in the neighborhoods.
The protocol reinforces the shared commitment to work together to identify needs, anticipate issues, and provide appropriate responses to territorial realities.
Periodic meetings are planned between municipal representatives and the Federation to address topics such as public space, civility, coexistence, tourism, and citizen participation, among other matters of common interest.
This new institutional relationship space can be updated and adapted according to the city's needs and areas of work considered of mutual interest.
With this signing, both parties reaffirm their commitment to strengthening citizen participation and improving public policies based on direct knowledge of neighborhood realities.
