The Akadèmia Theatre in Barcelona will host the premiere of Pinocchio o el espectáculo de la paternidad on March 11th, a production that delves into the complexities of parental responsibility.

Directed by Enrico Ianniello, who also plays Geppetto, the play features Moreno Bernardi as the wooden boy. This version distances itself from Walt Disney's 1940 film, choosing instead to reflect the extreme poverty and anarchy found in Carlo Collodi's original 1882 book.

"When a child starts to walk, they will move away from you, and that is difficult to accept."

The performance, running until March 29th, is part of the theatre's new international focus. It combines live acting with film fragments and music by Isao Tomita, presenting Pinocchio as a martyr of his father's expectations.
