The Jesuïtes del Clot theater in Barcelona is hosting rehearsals for Apassionades, a unique Passion play that tells the story of Jesus' death through the perspective of the women by his side.

Directed by Judit Vilaclara, the production aims to reclaim the voices of women often overlooked by history. The Sant Pere Claver del Clot Christian Community revived this tradition in 2023, offering a less masculinized version of the religious events.

"We wanted to recover these women, whom history has often forgotten, and give them a voice from their own perspective."

This year's performance features a redesigned Last Supper scene, focusing on the washing of the feet as a symbol of service. Actress Clara Llimona plays Mary, a non-speaking role that relies on body language and lighting to convey deep emotion to the audience.
The play involves around 50 people and will have a single performance on April 11th. Tickets are already on sale for this local cultural event in the El Clot neighborhood.
