The iconic premises at Ferran, 7, which housed the historic Estrella Pharmacy in Barcelona for over 180 years, will soon be transformed into a jewelry and accessories shop.

The rental operation, managed by the real estate agency Gramar, ends a period of uncertainty for this 90-square-meter space located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. The new business, which has already started renovation works, will focus on selling accessories and has explicitly ruled out gold trading. The monthly rent was set at approximately 8,000 euros.
This new phase follows a controversial opening in 2023 of a cannabis derivatives shop. That establishment was temporarily closed by the Barcelona City Council for lacking a license. Under the new Ciutat Vella regulations effective since July 2024, the opening of new cannabis-related shops is prohibited in the district.
The Estrella Pharmacy, founded in 1840, was the oldest shop on Ferran Street. The original business closed in 2021 due to a failure to reach a rental agreement. Despite the change in use, the premises are heritage-protected, requiring the preservation of historical elements such as the furniture and flooring.
