The group's spokesperson, Marc Serra, accompanied by councilors Lucía Martín and Tània Corrons, denounced an “anomalous situation” in the district during a press conference. According to Serra, between 5,000 and 8,000 homes are pending urgent rehabilitation in the area.
“"The model has moved towards privatization, putting at risk the majority of the projects we had started."
Serra regretted that the Collboni government has changed the course established by previous municipal executives. The agreement to “reverse the model” was reached in exchange for the approval of the Fiscal Ordinances, but its implementation has not been completed. Therefore, Barcelona en Comú announced they will present a motion to “force the municipal government to get involved”.
“"The model that the Mayor is implementing, based on self-management by vulnerable residents, is a failed model."
Pardo, the residents' spokesperson, directly accused Collboni of having “buried the rehabilitation plan” and warned that the current state of the housing is “dangerous for the lives of the residents”. She concluded with a strong warning: “either the administrations intervene now, or we may regret human losses in the future.”
